Your privacy choices

CompCheck.IO may use essential technologies required for secure operation and, where applicable, optional analytics or other technologies. Where consent is required, non-essential technologies should not be activated until the appropriate choice has been made.

1. About this Policy

This Cookie and Similar Technologies Policy explains how Waris International Consulting Ltd ("WICL", "we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar storage and access technologies in connection with CompCheck.IO.

CompCheck.IO is a product of Waris International Consulting Ltd.

Waris International Consulting Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales under company number 09531683.

Registered office: C/O Hr Accountants, 222 Branston Road, Burton On Trent, England, DE14 3BT.

Email: compcheck@warisconsulting.co.uk

This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

2. What are Cookies?

Cookies are small files or pieces of information which may be placed on or accessed from a computer, smartphone, tablet or other device when an individual uses a website or online service.

Cookies can perform a variety of functions, including:

  • enabling websites and applications to operate;
  • maintaining login sessions;
  • providing security;
  • remembering preferences;
  • maintaining user selections;
  • understanding how a service is used; and
  • supporting analytics and other functionality.

Cookies may be set by CompCheck.IO itself ("first-party cookies") or by another organisation whose technology is used by our website or Services ("third-party cookies").

3. Similar Technologies

The rules applying to cookies can also apply to other technologies which store information on, or access information from, a user's device.

These may include:

  • browser local storage;
  • session storage;
  • tracking pixels;
  • scripts and tags;
  • software development kits ("SDKs");
  • device identifiers;
  • link or navigational tracking; and
  • other storage and access technologies.

References to "cookies" in this Policy should therefore be understood to include similar technologies where appropriate.

4. Where this Policy Applies

This Policy applies, where relevant, to storage and access technologies used in connection with:

  • the CompCheck.IO public website;
  • the CompCheck.IO web application;
  • CompCheck.IO Compliance;
  • CompCheck.IO Academy;
  • CompCheck.IO HR;
  • associated login and Account functionality; and
  • CompCheck.IO mobile applications where applicable.

5. Categories of Technologies We May Use

Strictly Necessary

These technologies are required for essential operation of the website, application or Services.

They may be used for authentication, maintaining login sessions, Account security, fraud prevention, maintaining user sessions, load balancing, network management, storing privacy or cookie preferences and providing functionality expressly requested by the user.

Functional

Functional technologies may allow us to remember choices or provide enhanced functionality, such as interface preferences, display preferences, language preferences or other user-selected settings.

Analytics and Performance

Analytics technologies may help us understand how visitors reach CompCheck.IO, which pages or features are used, how users navigate the Services, application performance, errors or technical problems and how we can improve CompCheck.IO.

Marketing and Advertising

If CompCheck.IO uses advertising, remarketing or marketing technologies, they may be used to measure campaigns, understand advertising effectiveness, identify visits resulting from marketing activity, deliver relevant advertising or support remarketing.

6. Strictly Necessary Technologies

Some technologies are necessary for CompCheck.IO to provide functionality requested by the user.

Examples may include technologies required to:

  • securely log into an Account;
  • maintain an authenticated session;
  • protect Account security;
  • prevent malicious activity;
  • process a requested transaction;
  • maintain load balancing;
  • remember cookie/privacy choices; or
  • provide another function expressly requested by the user.

Users cannot necessarily disable these technologies through our cookie preference tool because doing so could prevent the requested service from operating.

They may still be blocked or deleted through browser or device settings, although this may cause CompCheck.IO to stop functioning correctly.

7. Consent

Where applicable law requires consent before a technology can be used, we will seek that consent before activating it.

Consent should be freely given, specific, informed and indicated by a clear affirmative action.

Where appropriate, users will be able to accept or reject relevant categories of non-essential technologies.

Simply continuing to browse should not be treated as consent where affirmative consent is legally required.

8. Rejecting Non-Essential Technologies

Where consent is required, users may reject non-essential technologies without preventing access to ordinary functionality that does not depend upon them.

Rejecting analytics or marketing technologies should not prevent strictly necessary technologies from operating.

9. Changing Your Preferences

Where a cookie preference facility is provided, users can change or withdraw their choices through the Cookie Settings or equivalent facility made available through the website or application.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.

Users can also control certain technologies through their browser or device settings.

10. Browser Controls

Most browsers allow users to:

  • view stored cookies;
  • delete cookies;
  • block cookies;
  • block third-party cookies;
  • clear stored website data; and
  • modify privacy settings.

Blocking all cookies may prevent certain CompCheck.IO features from functioning correctly, particularly authentication and Account functionality.

11. Analytics

CompCheck.IO may use analytics technology to understand the operation and use of our website and Services.

Before publishing a definitive list, we are verifying which analytics products are deployed on:

compcheck.io
and
app.compcheck.io

Any analytics technology requiring consent will be configured accordingly.

This Policy will be updated with the relevant provider, purpose and duration information following technical verification.

12. Third-Party Technologies

Some CompCheck.IO functionality may rely upon third-party service providers.

Depending upon the Services and configuration, these may potentially include providers relating to:

  • hosting;
  • security;
  • authentication;
  • payment processing;
  • communications;
  • video;
  • analytics;
  • support;
  • error monitoring; and
  • other integrated functionality.

A third-party provider may place or access information on a user's device where its technology is incorporated into CompCheck.IO.

Where required, we will provide appropriate information and obtain consent before allowing relevant third-party technologies to operate.

13. Payment Services

Where CompCheck.IO uses external payment providers, those providers may use technologies necessary to process payments, prevent fraud, authenticate transactions and maintain payment security.

Some payment functionality may also take users to or embed services provided directly by the relevant payment provider.

The applicable provider's own privacy and cookie information may apply to its independent processing.

This Policy will be updated with relevant payment-provider details following final technical verification.

14. Embedded Content

Our website or Services may contain embedded content, including:

  • videos;
  • demonstrations;
  • training content; and
  • other third-party media.

Embedded third-party content may cause the relevant provider to store or access information on the user's device.

Where this requires consent, the embedded content or associated tracking technology should not be activated until the required consent has been obtained.

YouTube video guides

CompCheck.IO currently uses or intends to use YouTube-hosted demonstration and video-guide content on parts of the public website.

YouTube is operated by Google and may use cookies or similar technologies when embedded content is loaded.

We intend to configure embedded video functionality in a manner consistent with applicable privacy and cookie requirements, including appropriate consent controls where required.

15. Mobile Applications

CompCheck.IO may make mobile applications available for Android and iOS.

Mobile applications can use storage and access technologies other than conventional browser cookies.

These may include:

  • application storage;
  • device identifiers;
  • push-notification identifiers;
  • authentication tokens;
  • analytics SDKs; and
  • crash-reporting technologies.

This Policy will be updated to identify material mobile technologies once the mobile applications and associated SDKs are finalised.

16. Authentication and Security

CompCheck.IO may use technologies necessary to authenticate users, maintain secure sessions and protect Accounts.

Where such technology is strictly necessary to provide a secure service requested by the user, it may fall within an applicable exemption from the consent requirement.

Security-related technology will not be used for unrelated advertising purposes merely because it is technically capable of identifying a device or session.

17. Cookie Duration

Cookies may be either:

Session cookies — which ordinarily expire when the relevant browsing session ends; or

Persistent cookies — which remain for a defined period or until removed.

We will not retain cookies or similar identifiers for longer than reasonably necessary for their stated purposes.

Specific durations for material technologies will be added to the cookie inventory following completion of our technical audit.

18. Cookie and Technology Inventory

The following inventory will be maintained and updated as our website and Services develop:

19. Personal Data

Where information collected through cookies or similar technologies constitutes Personal Data, our processing of that information is also subject to applicable data-protection law.

Further information about our identity, purposes of processing, lawful bases, recipients, international transfers, retention, individual rights and how to contact us is provided in our Privacy Policy.

  • technologies change;
  • new CompCheck.IO functionality is introduced;
  • providers change;
  • mobile applications are introduced or updated;
  • our analytics arrangements change;
  • legal requirements change; or
  • our website or application architecture changes.
